Happy Friday Everyone!

I’m very, very excited to reveal a community initiative that has been months in the making. In an effort to ensure the Tomb Raider community has representation at E3 we’ve handpicked 17 international representatives from the Official Fansite Program to be flown to Los Angles and act as ambassadors to the larger community.

The goal of the program is to give longtime webmasters press-like status at E3. We’re giving them access to the demo, interviews, and the E3 show floor so that they can best relay information and impressions about Tomb Raider to all of you!

The full list of attending ambassadors can be found below. I’m sure you’ll recognize some of the names!

If you’re not part of one of the above communities, I’d like to welcome you to discuss E3 over on the Official Tomb Raider Forums. You can interact with the forum ambassador (Chip) threefold:

E3 Q&A Thread [Link]: In the Q&A thread you can ask any questions you have for the Tomb Raider team. A number of questions will be picked out and the forum ambassador will ask them directly (face to face!) during his visit to LA. Chip will also keep the second post of the thread updated so you can keep an eye on popular questions.

E3 Demo Thread [Link]: The demo thread is a place for all of you to give Chip hints about what you’d like him to look for in the demo. This is also where Chip will share his impressions and updates during the show, and a longer format preview of the game post-E3.

E3 General Chat [Link]: We’re also going to be maintaining the general E3 discussion thread. This will be your one-stop shop for all important E3 information, assets, and your impressions.

I’m extremely excited about this opportunity, and can’t wait to share E3 with fellow Tomb Raider fans! Here is to a fantastic show!

Hello everyone, Below you’ll find a very important message from Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics.

A Message to the Tomb Raider Community

When Crystal Dynamics first set out to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise, there were two goals that we were extremely passionate about. The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of. We truly believe that we have something very special on our hands and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.

We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait. The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.

Darrell Gallagher

While disappointment in having to wait a bit longer for Tomb Raider is natural, I – and the rest of the studio – firmly believe this is the right decision. I know you’ll agree when holding an exceptional experience in your hands come launch day.

I’m sure you’ve got lots of questions about the news above. We’ve created a dedicated thread in the official forums for you to voice your questions and comments. I’ll personally gather the common inquires and pose them to Darrell in the next Crystal Habit Podcast, so here’s an opportunity to make your voice heard.

To take a bit of the edge off the delay we decided to release a new screenshot hinting at content you’ll be seeing at E3. You can check it out above.

As always thank you for your continued support!

Meagan Marie

Have you heard the news? Today we announced that industry vet Cory Barlog has joined the Crystal Dynamics family! Cory’s exact title and current projects are still under wraps (we’re mysterious like that), but we’re incredibly excited to have him on board.

Cory boasts an impressive pedigree. Most notably he’s contributed heavily to the God of War franchise, taking up various writing and directing roles on God of War 2, Chains of Olympus, and Ghost of Sparta.  After leaving SCEA Cory continued to work on a variety of industry projects as a consultant, designer, and writer.

“Crystal has pulled together some of the best teams in the industry to deliver against upcoming projects and future IP.” says Darrell Gallagher, head of studio. “Cory’s heritage in building industry defining action adventure titles, together with our focus on delivering quality character driven blockbuster entertainment makes Cory a tremendously exciting addition to the team.”

Please help us welcome Cory!
